W 60

60.  Charny asks:   One man at arms has another as his prisoner and makes him swear that he will hold himself in captivity within the gates of the city and allows his prisoner to go through the city; and the prisoner swears this and loyally keeps his word.   Afterwards it happens that the master of this prisoner puts him in a house in the city and forbids and commands him not to leave it without permission and without renewing his oath.   And two or three days after the prohibition the prisoner escapes and gets himself to safety.   His master requires him to return; the prisoner refuses.   Many good arguments are given on either side.   How will it be judged by the law of arms?
