W 73

73.  Charny asks:   Because there are many who are involved in two equal wars, I ask that if this one is taken by his enemies in one of the wars and put to ransom and one gives him permission on his faith to come back personally carrying his ransom on the day that the one has given him and so he is not able to until after this day.  And in the meantime the enemy from the other war encounters him and takes him and wants to put him to ransom, and he wants to be paid before the other.   And the other who had first captured him says that he should not do it. Many good reasons are given on either side. How will it be judged by the law of arms?
